Beyond The Secret

The film and book called ‘The Secret’ seems to be taking the world by storm and was recently featured on the Oprah Winfrey show.  The secret itself is actually the universal law of attraction and as the film says has been around practically since the dawn of time.

Many others have written about the law of attraction in the past but it seems only now that the world has sat up and taken notice.  It is all very well knowing about the law of attraction, which, simply defined is: ‘we all get what we think about and focus on the most.’  But what the Secret doesn’t tell us is how to do this.

All the good intentions in the world are difficult to keep up when we lose our dream job or our partner walks out on us.  The Secret tells us how the law works but not how to put it into action.

However we try to keep our thoughts positive, and focused on what we want, the emotion or feeling usually we feel is often lack of belief.  It is the emotion that we feel from our thoughts and words that illicit a response from the universe, and if this is negative and unbelieving, that is the response we get.

EFT

Some of you may have heard of EFT.  The term stands for Emotional Freedom Technique.  This is another tool you can use to get rid of negative and destructive thoughts and emotions in a very easy way.  The technique can also be used to build up a new way of thinking with very little effort.

The simple technique consists of tapping areas of your face and body whilst you reprogram your thoughts, by concentrating on the words that you use whilst tapping.  This technique is excellent for any emotional problem and also for physical healing.

I really encourage you to try it.  This technique has been extremely successful for so many people, and even if you are a bit skeptical to start with, give it a go and I think that you will be pleasantly surprised!

Protection for our Children

Recently I have been to Hong Kong to visit the Electronics trade fairs with my husband Hugh as he has a Security Company.  It really got me thinking about security from a woman’s point of view.

Parents may not realize that it is now possible to install a camera at home which you can view over the internet on your work computer.  This would be a wonderful tool for parents who have school age children home alone from early afternoon until they return from work.  It can often mean several hours that the children are left alone.

Think what peace of mind you would have if you could keep you eye on them, even without their being aware of it.  There are many disguised cameras available now as toys and installed in smoke alarms.

Other products I saw at the show were GPS systems that are fitted into children’s sneakers so that if they get lost or are taken you can locate them exactly by tracking the GPS system.

In the area where I live in the Gold Coast Australia there are many swimming pools because of the hot weather.  Every year many small children drown, drowning's which could be prevented.  Even when you have a secure gated pool, the gate can be left open by older kids,  leaving the pool wide open for toddlers to get in. 

There is now an alarm that can be placed in the pool, with a wireless connection to a monitor in the house, that will sound when anything weighing 6 kilos or more falls in the pool, giving the parent time to rush out and rescue their children.  Also there is a camera which can be placed under water in the pool with a Video receiver that could be moved from room to room in the house allowing the parent to keep their eye on what is happening.

All of us have seen the awful videos of Nannies that have abused young and even disabled children in their home.  Nanny cams are always a good idea even if you are certain that your nanny is very good, as they give you peace of mind.  Again these can be viewed on line or recorded to be reviewed at a later date.

Even though in this day and age it is often necessary for parents to work it is satisfying to know that you can use the latest technology at a relatively low cost to keep your eye on them.

The Gentle Art of Blessing

On awaking, bless this day, for it is already full of unseen good, which your blessings will call forth; for to bless is to acknowledge the unlimited good that is embedded in the very texture of the universe and awaiting each and all.
On passing people in the street, on the bus, in places of work and play, bless them.  The peace of your blessing will companion them on their way, and the aura of its gentle fragrance will be a light on their path.
On meeting people and talking to them, bless them in their health, their work, their joy, their relationship to the universe, themselves and others.  Bless them in their abundance and their finances.  Bless them in every conceivable way, for such blessings not only sow seeds of healing, but on day will spring forth as flowers in the waste places of your own life.
As you walk, bless the city in which you live, its government and teachers, its nurses and street sweepers, its children and bankers, its priests and prostitutes.  The minute anyone expresses the least aggression or unkindness to you, respond with a blessing.  Bless them totally, sincerely, joyfully, for such blessings are a shield that protects you from the ignorance of their misdeed, and deflects the arrow that was aimed at you.
To bless means to wish, unconditionally, total unrestricted good for others and events from the deepest chamber of your heart.  It means to hallow, to hold in reverence, to behold with utter awe, that which is always a gift from the Creator.  He who is hallowed by your blessing is set aside, consecrated, holy, and whole.  To bless is yet to invoke divine care upon, to speak or think gratefully for, to confer happiness upon – although we are never the bestower, but simply the joyful witnesses of life’s abundance.
To bless all without discrimination of any sort is the ultimate form of giving because those you bless will never know from whence came the sudden ray that burst through the clouds of their skies, and you will rarely be a witness to the sunlight in their lives.
When you pass a hospital, bless its patients in their present wholeness, for even in their suffering, their wholeness awaits in them to be discovered.  When your eyes behold a man in tears or seemingly broken by life, bless him in his vitality and joy.
It is impossible to bless and judge at the same time.  So hold constantly as a deep, hallowed, intoned thought the desire to bless, for truly then shall you become a peacemaker, and one day you shall behold everywhere, the very face of God.

PS And, of course above all, do not forget to bless the utterly beautiful person YOU are.
